Total E & P Joslyn Ltd.

Effective January 11, 2008 Deer Creek Energy Limited changed its name to Total E&P Joslyn Ltd. Total E&P Joslyn Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Total E&P Canada Ltd., is the Operator of the Joslyn lease. For information pertaining to the Joslyn Projects.

Joslyn Lease

Since its purchase of the Joslyn lease in 2005, Total Canada has been working diligently to build better oil sands extraction operations. Total E&P Joslyn Ltd. is the operator of the Joslyn Lease, with a 74 percent participating interest.

Total's Joslyn lease is located 65 kilometers northwest of Fort McMurray in the Athabasca Oil Sands and covers an area of more than 221 square kilometers. The Joslyn project provides for a multi-phase development which is expected to yield two billion barrels of bitumen production over 30 years. This production will be achieved through a combination of Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) recovery and mining extraction methods.

Oil Sands Surface Mining

Total Canada is currently in the regulatory approval process to construct and operate the proposed Joslyn North Mine Project. The Joslyn North Mine will reach a production rate of 100,000 barrels per day by 2012 / 2013.

A second mine, to be located on the southern part of the Joslyn Lease, is in the project definition phase. The South Mine will likely produce an additional 100,000 barrels per day, with start-up projected four years after the Joslyn North Mine is in operation.

The Joslyn North Mine Project is approximately nine kilometers northwest of of the First Nations community of Fort McKay. Total Canada will use innovative new technologies to recover bitumen from oil sands. This will result in less impact on the environment and earlier restoration of the land.

SAGD

Total E&P Joslyn Ltd. extracts bitumen from the deeper deposits using a recovery technique known as steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD). Pairs of parallel horizontal wells are drilled to recover bitumen continuously from the McMurray formation. Steam is injected into the upper well bore and oil is produced from the lower well bore.

Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage commercial production on the site began in the 4th quarter of 2006. Total is still assessing the Joslyn lease to determine how much production should occur using SAGD versus mining technologies.
