Abasand Heights
Abasand Heights – the community on the hill. Originally developed to accommodate oil sands workers during plant construction and start-up, Abasand Heights overlooks the west side of the valley and the south end of the Lower Townsite. Home to 4,061 people living primarily in multi-family units such as duplexes, townhouses and apartments, the north part of the neighbourhood has experienced extensive new development in 2002. Approximately 265 dwelling units were developed between 2001 and 2002. There is one neighbourhood commercial area with various services as well as a recreational facility and two schools.
